March 4 – The Coolest Flower

Today I wrote a rap song and made a flash video for it.  There once was a time where I made flash videos much more frequently, but I’m super excited to have done it again!  Woo!

I don’t know where the idea for this song came from.

Just a reminder that Caroline and I finish our part of Create or Die on Friday… but that doesn’t mean it’s over!  Stay tuned for more information about how YOU might be able to participate!

It’s Time… for PUNISHMENT

Looks like we’re even, Caroline!

I thought a little bit about a proper assignment for you… and since you went pretty easy on me last week I figured I should return the favor.  Also, since my assignment dealt with SPACE, it only seemed fitting that yours should deal with TIME.

time

TIME

Here are your instructions:

  1. Go somewhere… unusual.  Bring a camera.
  2. Take pictures at that place.  Of yourself, other people, the environment… it doesn’t matter, but know that you will…
  3. Use these pictures to tell a story about TIME.

Good luck!  I’ll see you Tuesday (or will I see you before that?)

I meant to make something last night. And thennnnnnnn I fell asleep instead.

So Chris, do your worst.

Wait, no. Please don’t…. 🙂

February 28 – A Sufty Theme

I have a confession to make.

I did my paintings last weekend and have had literally all week to put together this project.  But instead I played video games.  Whoops.

BUT! Let’s let bygones be bygones. I did promise that I would be doing a song at some point, and here it is for you!!!  I whipped out the good ol’ Guitar Pro to help me write this one.  Man, I love MIDIs. They’re so… 1992. But in the best way.  Afterall, 1992 was the INTERNATIONAL SPACE YEAR.  Have we had one since?  I don’t think so!  It’s pretty much been downhill since then (sorry Space Cat).

I used to do a lot more compositions in Guitar Pro (I have folders full of unfinished songs) but haven’t done much in a while.  It was nice to work with it again, and I’m happy with what I’ve created for you today! This is an instrumental duet for pianos.  I’ve called it “A Sufty Theme.”  Enjoy!

feb 27 – artwork inspired by henri matisse

Hi guyss!!!!! Part 2 in my visual art week was an accident, but I like how it turned out.

I studied Henri Matisse at some point in my life. He did work like this:

Woman with a Hat, 1905

LOVE the colors in that, and all his work–he uses bright colors very unexpectedly.

Towards the end of his career, he started using paper cut outs to create works liiiike these:

The Clown, 1943

Icarus, 1944

And it’s Icarus that inspired my piece today! 😀

February 26 – Space Cats and Watercolors

Well, Caroline, here we are.  As you know, on Friday, I missed my day, so you assigned me a project.  And I figured, well, I’d better do something today.  And of course, you remember the project you assigned:

Space cat

Oh my. That’s GLORIOUS.  IMPECCABLE.  It’s perfect.  Anything (perhaps everything?) I could possible create would be far beneath the majesty of this… this… entracing art.  But I don’t think that excuse would fly… so I gave it a shot.  You suggested watercolor in the style of Monet.  I went for it.

So!  Ladies and gentlemen, I give you:

space-cat

SPACE CAT!

And let me tell you, it was an interesting process getting to this point, to say the least!
